Safety & Security
Read HUF visitor guidance on security checks, belongings, respectful conduct, demonstrations, CCTV and getting help.
1. Intro
These rules apply to attendees, exhibitors, speakers, contractors and staff. Read the visitor information for your edition for its entry arrangements and venue-specific restrictions.
2. Entry checks
Security staff are authorised to check tickets and conduct lawful, proportionate bag checks at entry. Checks must be respectful and based on safety needs. Tell staff if you need a private check or an adjustment. Refusing a necessary lawful check is grounds for refusing entry, subject to reasonable accommodation and applicable law.
3. Prohibited items
Do not bring weapons, illegal drugs, explosives, hazardous materials or unauthorised drones. Venue-specific restrictions on other items will be published before entry. Contact us about essential medication, mobility aids or medical equipment so appropriate arrangements are confirmed.
4. Respectful conduct
Harassment, discrimination, threats, violence and unwanted physical contact are not permitted. Respect personal space and ask before photographing another person. Do not pressure anyone to buy a product, share health information or take part in an activity.
5. Safety instructions
Keep exits, aisles and emergency equipment clear. Stay out of restricted areas. Follow lawful instructions from authorised event and venue staff, especially during an evacuation. Do not tamper with equipment or attempt an unsupervised demonstration.
6. Getting help
At the event, alert the nearest staff member or help desk if you need urgent assistance or see unsafe behaviour. For an immediate emergency, call 112. Event-specific first-aid and help-desk locations will be shown in the arrival information and on-site signs.
7. Personal belongings
Look after your phone, bag, wallet and other personal items. Keep valuables with you and avoid bringing items you do not need. General security is not a cloakroom or personal storage service. HUF does not take custody of an item unless an authorised storage service expressly accepts it.
8. Exhibitor property
Exhibitors must secure their stock, cash, equipment and display materials during setup, event hours and breakdown. They are responsible for arranging appropriate cover for their property and activities under their agreement. HUF does not insure exhibitor property.
9. Loss and damage
Report lost items or suspected theft promptly to the help desk and, where appropriate, the police. HUF does not accept responsibility for unattended property merely because it is inside the venue. Responsibility arising from HUF’s own fault or non-excludable legal duties remains unaffected.
10. Experiences and demonstrations
Follow the provider’s safety instructions and eligibility checks. Any hands-on procedure requires clear information and appropriate consent. If you feel unwell, stop and seek help. A ticket does not require you to participate.
11. Food and allergens
Speak to the food provider about ingredients, allergens and preparation before consuming anything. Tell the provider about relevant dietary needs. HUF does not promise an allergen-free environment.
12. Security CCTV
Security CCTV is used in [CONFIRMED COVERED AREAS] at [VENUE] by [CCTV OPERATOR]. It supports safety, incident review and lawful investigations. It is not used for marketing. Cameras must not cover toilets, changing spaces or private consultation areas. Read the entrance notice for the operator, retention period and privacy contact.
13. CCTV limits
Security cameras do not guarantee prevention of theft, injury or other incidents. Access to footage is restricted to authorised people with a relevant security or legal need. Requests for footage will be assessed against other people’s privacy and applicable law.
14. Removal and fair treatment
We will respond proportionately to a credible safety concern or breach of these rules. A serious breach is grounds for removal. We will consider access needs and explain the reason where practicable. Disputed admission or removal decisions are reviewed through the complaint process.
15. Incident follow-up
To report an issue after the event, email connect@thehumanupgradefest.com with the edition, date, approximate time, location and a description. Avoid including unnecessary health or identity information.
